Venthams was founded in 1974 with one principal objective: to provide clients with a complete and personal service of the highest quality.

The firm has developed into a progressive medium-sized practice based in London, Essex and Surrey, employing approximately 50 staff. We are committed firmly to that original objective, to high technical standards and to providing services of the highest quality.

As we move into the 21st century, Venthams is at ease with contemporary technologies and the rapidly changing business environment. A modern firm with traditional values of service, we aim to bring value to your business by providing superior pro-active service. 

The key personnel with whom you will have contact at Venthams are as follows:-

Steven Baldwin FCA - Director

Steven is the senior director of Venthams and has worked in the practice since 1979, training and qualifying with the firm. He was managing partner of the London office from 1988 to 1999 when he relocated to Rochford. Steven has responsibility for a number of the firm’s largest clients and deals with managing all aspects of the service provided. Steven specialises in business and taxation planning services for clients.

Mark Cragg FCA – Director

Mark trained and qualified with Deloitte & Touche and joined Venthams in 1989, becoming a partner in 1990. Mark heads our Redhill office where he has had responsibility for his existing clients for the past 10 years.

Alastair Godfrey CTA – Director

Alastair joined Venthams in 1995 having previously been a tax partner in a London based firm of accountants specialising in tax consultancy work for over twenty years. He is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and is currently the Chairman of the Essex Branch. Alastair has extensive experience in all areas of direct taxation, being involved in a wide range of personal, trust and corporate taxation assignments with considerable emphasis on tax planning.

Richard Green FCA – Director

Richard joined Venthams in a non-executive capacity in 2005. Currently working in the charities sector, he brings over 30 years of commercial experience to the Board.

Adrian Mathers FCA – Director

Adrian trained and qualified with the firm and is responsible for information technology and computer support both within the firm and on behalf of the clients. Adrian joined the firm in 1986 and has specialised in I.T. since 1994. He has developed strategic alliances with providers of software and hardware and is the first port of call for many clients who have computer-related queries.

Stuart Rowson FCA – Director

Stuart trained and qualified with Venthams and has worked in the practice since 1979. Now Finance Director, with responsibility for administration and development, over the past years Stuart’s role has developed to encompass management consultancy work and Stuart specialises in advising on profit enhancement.

Mark Taylor FCA – Director

Mark joined the firm as manager in 1997 and is now in charge of our London operations. Mark looks after a portfolio of clients dealing with all aspects of our services and is also responsible for training and compliance within the practice.
